We are looking for an operational unit manager/business developer for the Social Services Department in the Northern Inner City District Administration.

Today, the Social Services Department in our administration consists of six areas with a total of approximately 400 employees. The areas are named as follows; Children and Youth, Adults, Economic Support and Employment, Promotive and Preventive Social Work, Provider of Social Psychiatry, and Provider of LSS. The department is led by a department head who has a management support in their staff. Currently, there are four positions in the departmental support, but these will be expanded by centralizing certain functions. The department covers a large part of the social services' activities with both its own operations and contracts that we follow up on.

Your role

Now we are looking for someone who wants the assignment as an operational unit manager/business developer for the departmental support and, together with the department head, continue to drive and support development work and ensure good quality in the social services' activities. You will be part of the department's management team and currently also have a partial assignment regarding the implementation of the new Social Services Act, which will come into force on July 1, 2025. In the departmental support, you will have budget, personnel, and operational responsibilities. In your role as an operational unit manager and business developer, you will be responsible for coordinating and driving the work of the social services department with quality management systems, as well as planning and conducting operational and contract follow-ups of the activities. You are self-reliant and take responsibility for your and your unit's tasks and processes. You plan and prioritize work efficiently based on set goals, structures, and schedules. Since the position involves many contact points both internally and externally, it is important that you have good collaboration skills and communicate clearly, pedagogically, and professionally. You are someone who takes initiative and makes things happen. You are driving in development and improvement work and contribute with innovative thinking and commitment.

As an operational manager and business developer, your responsibilities also include:

analyze results, propose measures, follow up, and evaluate interventions.
develop quality management systems in the activities and at the departmental level, monitor the external environment, and participate in various networks.
conduct workshops and training sessions.

The work is varied and changing, therefore, other tasks may also occur. The content of the work and its conditions may change over time based on political goals and new assignments.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

a university degree that the employer deems relevant
several years of experience as a manager and business controller
current experience in independently driving complex development and improvement work
very good ability to express oneself fluently in Swedish both verbally and in writing
experience in working within social services
experience in preventive development work within social services

It is a merit if you have:

education and experience in process management, process development, or analysis
knowledge and experience of ILS (Integrated Management System) or Stratsys, preferably within Stockholm City
experience in change management
